Working on inclusion, wellbeing and diversity for Align Learn Do

2021 rolled in and I’ve just looked up and it’s May! How did that happen? I’ve been so busy that I haven’t necessarily had time to stop, take stock, and reflect. Whilst the past few months have been challenging in many ways, there have also been several achievements - or wins.

One exciting announcement is that I have take on the role Wellbeing and Inclusion Solutions Director for learning and development brand Align Learn Do. I am so excited to join founder Neil Cunningham to expand his business to ensure that Align Learn Do clients are supported in the vital areas of diversity, inclusion, equity and wellness.

Through this work, I will enable businesses to understand and develop their approach to diversity and racial equity. This includes reviewing current business culture and practices, training and facilitation, working collaboratively on a strategic roadmap, and providing resources and tools to enable growth and development.

This work is relevant to businesses that might not have built inclusion, wellness and diversity into their core work, strategic vision or operational plans but have realised the importance of this. It is also for leaders who want to diversify their team or customer base but don’t know how to do it. Or perhaps your business just wants to find out the state of play internally - what are you doing well, what could be improved, what areas are there even to work on?

There is no one-size-fits all model when it comes to inclusion and wellness in the workplace and I work to ensure that actions around diversity are never a tick box exercise. Developing diversity and inclusion strategies can be a daunting task, which is why I take a client-centric approach to ensure that it works for each business or brand on an individual level.

Through collaborative work, I develop client-focused solutions that are inclusive, relevant and effective. This could be from hosting conversations with business leaders - asking the right questions, picking away at what they might not know exists, being able to facilitate new conversations - or from conducting audits, reviews and surveys across the business and drawing this into active recommendations, policies and procedures.

Whatever route we take on this journey together, the destination is to be a better, brighter business that supports and values everyone within the business and well as welcoming anyone else on board.

My work with Align Learn Do is in addition to working as a Diversity and Inclusion Associate for Be Inclusive Hospitality - a not-for-profit that aims to amplify diverse voices and accelerate racial equality in the hospitality industry.

On a personal note, with both roles, I am so pleased - and honoured - to be able to use my decade plus of experience in strategic development, project management and business support, alongside my core drive enable and nurture diversity, inclusion and wellness in a bid to make positive change on this planet. We all have a role to play in being the change that our communities and businesses need and I am excited to have the chance to do that with you.
